About Me
Ashley Wilson is a pianist and music educator based in Athens, Georgia, where she has been teaching students of all ages and levels for more than a decade. A Kentucky native raised in Appalachia, Ashley began teaching piano at eighteen and quickly discovered that helping students make music was the work she wanted to build her life around.
She graduated summa cum laude from Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in music education with an emphasis in piano pedagogy and later earned a master’s degree in piano performance and pedagogy there. She also holds a Master of Music Education from the University of Georgia, where she was a teaching assistant. Her training has given her experience across many areas of music education, from private and group piano lessons to supervising future music educators in public school classrooms.
Ashley opened her independent piano studio in 2019. Today, the studio is home to a vibrant community of students with different personalities, goals, musical tastes, and ways of learning. She believes excellent music education can be both rigorous and joyful, and she cares deeply about creating lessons where students feel known, challenged, curious, and capable.
Outside her own studio, Ashley is active in the local and national music-teaching community. She is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music through the Music Teachers National Association and currently serves as president of the Athens Music Teachers Association.
When she isn’t teaching, Ashley can usually be found tending to an unreasonable number of houseplants, hiking, baking sourdough, making pottery, watching Studio Ghibli films, playing The Sims, or heading out on an adventure with her rescue dog, Stella.
